Banking on growth opportunities

- Bjorn Biel M. Beltran

BPI ASSET MANAGEMENT and Trust Corp. ( BPI AMTC) is the largest standalone trust corporation with P577 billion in assets under management (AUM) as of March 2018, serving both institutional and individual investors through what can be considered the most diverse and innovative investment products and solutions in the industry.

BPI AMTC is aiming to further diversify its investment products to take advantage of domestic and international growth opportunities for clients who seek above-average returns.

“We have some 26 UITF (unit investment trust fund) products currently being offered, which will easily grow to more than 30 in the coming months as we roll out new products recently approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,” said BPI AMTC President and CEO Mario T. Miranda.

“We have always been at the forefront in terms of product innovation and we continue to review our fund offerings versus their market relevance,” he said.

The goal is to seek consistent above-par returns of the company’s vast offering of UITFs, open- ended pooled trust funds invested in different securities depending on specific investment objectives.

“Our AUM coming from the UITFs is the most diversified in the industry. We have a very good distribution among money market, bond and equity asset classes which distinguish us from our fiercest competitors, especially in terms of experience and coverage,” Mr. Miranda said.

Mr. Miranda pointed out that as the biggest fund manager in terms of the equity asset class, BPI remains the only investment management company with the most comprehensive line up of index funds.

“Given the stronger preference of investors for equity securities to drive long- term returns, our largest products are in the equity space, both domestic and global, more particularly the equity index funds,” Mr. Miranda said.

Of course, the diversity of the company’s offerings extends to those new to investing as well as to the seasoned investors. For first-time investors who are not yet comfortable with risk, BPI AMTC recommends the BPI Short Term Fund, which could yield modest returns in less than a year. If they are willing to take more risk, the BPI Philippine Equity Index Fund is suitable for aggressive investors, as it allows them to ride the growth of the Philippine economy which bodes well for equity investments.

For the most experienced and sophisticated investors, clients can take advantage of the stronger US dollar at the current market. BPI AMTC offers the BPI Global Equity Fund- of-Funds, which is the largest global equity investment fund in the country. It has assets under management of more than $85 million and is structured as a fund- of-funds that aims to generate returns over the MSCI World Index (USD).

All of these are managed by the best and most experienced investment professionals available.

“Experience, expertise, prudent management and value proposition are the key pillars of our investment style, which is also anchored on our multistrategy orientation. This enables us to offer products across multiple asset classes from local and international markets. Standing on the shoulders of experienced and driven investment managers, BPI AMTC will continue to provide a wide array of investment options with our client- centric portfolio management approach. This will enable us to deliver superior investment returns for the amount of risk our clients are willing to take on,” Mr. Miranda said.

With an accomplished investment management team, rigorous investment processes, and state- ofthe-art technology infrastructure for advanced portfolio management, risk management, investment accounting systems, investment planning and funds distribution, BPI AMTC is well- equipped to help clients reach their investment goals. —
