Posporos hooks up Spanish, Pinoy musicians
SINCE 2016, the Philippine- Spanish music project Posporos has showcased indie music talents from both countries, giving them the opportunity to experience each other’s music. Posporos has already featured 18 Spanish and Filipino music bands and six DJs, in nine different venues across Metro Manila.
Posporos will set local music enthusiasts on fire again on July 7 when the Spanish band Belako joins up with local band She’s Only Sixteen at the XX XX club in Chino Roces, Ave., Makati City in a new edition of this series, which is organized by the Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Kiko Escora will be closing the night with his spinning style.
Now in its 3rd season, Posporos takes a twist and presents a new format in which its original spirit and meaning remain intact. More than just a concert, Posporos Sírkulo, Posporos Sa Ilog, and Posporos Hotel will provide a space where artists exchange ideas, share experiences and participate in a diverse range of activities, from workshops to roundtable discussions on the music industry.
On July 5, starting at 10:30 a.m., Posporos Sirkulo will gather a large number of artists and music industry professionals and stakeholders at the auditorium of the NCCA in Intramuros. The program, open to the public but registration required, will consist of three roundtable discussions on Artist Management and Events, Music Marketing and Distribution and Philippine Music Media.
Also on July 5, Posporos Sa Ilog will take the conversation on-board a chartered ferry and out onto the Pasig River. A group of artists and producers from the music industry, and work its way from Intramuros upriver to Poblacion, with guests mingling, checking out the city’s riverbanks, and enjoying an exclusive set by Kiko Escora. The evening will end with a double-feature line-up of performances by Ben&Ben and Mulan. The performances will be open to the public at 8 p.m. at Pineapple Lab on Palma St., in Poblacion, Makati City.
Finally, the residency Posporos Hotel will start on July 8 in Dolores, Quezon Province, uniting Belako and world music rock band from the Philippines Talahib People’s Music in a joint effort to explore the roots of Philippine folk music. The residency will culminate in a performance of both bands that will be recorded in the heart of the jungle.
