HOW DEPENDENT ARE REGIONS ON NATIONAL REVENUE?

ONE of the reasons for the current administration’s push for federalism is to increase regions‘ capacity to generate revenue locally. As of September 2017, government data bared regions’ continued reliance on external (i.e. national) sources of revenue, with those adjacent to Metro Manila, such as Central Luzon and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), having bigger shares compared to those farther away from the capital.
