NHMFC holds Regional Stakeholders Forum
The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), one of the housing agencies attached under the Housing & Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), recently held the “Regional Stakeholders Forum” last July 20 to familiarize regional partners and stakeholders with the various programs and services it offers.
Held at the Robertson Hotel in Naga City, the forum attracted over 100 participants from Region IV-A (CALABARZON), Region V (BICOL), and the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP). They learned more about NHMFC’s programs and services, such as the Housing Loan Receivables Purchase Program (HLRPP), Magandang Buhay sa Bahay (MaBuHay) Reverse Mortgage Program, and the Socialized Housing Loan Takeout of Receivables (SHeLTer).
The event was led by NHMFC Executive Vice-President Livia Alicia R. Ramos. In her opening remarks, Ms. Ramos stated that NHMFC hoped that the forum would serve as a dialogue between the corporation and the attendees on how NHMFC could provide assistance through housing solutions.
“I hope that by this forum, we could foster partnerships and develop funding opportunities for affordable housing. Hopefully mapag-igting natin ang ating relasyon, between NHMFC at yung mga financial institutions, rural banks at sa mga cooperatives dito sa Bicol Region,” she said.
HUDCC Secretary-General Atty. Falconi V. Millar was also present during the forum and praised NHMFC’s efforts to shed light on its programs and services to better serve its partners and stakeholders.
“As mandated by the BALAI thrust, we have to scaleup public-private partnership. Building a house has never been a one-man affair, it has always been a collaborative effort, we need your help. It is through our partnership that we can help our countrymen realize their dream of owning a home. For the sake of our countrymen, let everyone of us be a housing Czar!” he said.
Aside from NHMFC’s programs and services, various topics were also discussed during the forum. Ms. Jeanette Moling, a Build Changes Housing Finance Specialist, discussed the “Building a Disaster Resilient Design and Construction.” Marie Antoinette C. Azafies, Revenue Officer at Bureau of Internal Revenue in Naga City, discussed familiarization with the TRAIN Law. Atty. Emilio D. Escueta, Attorney III of the Cooperative Development Authority in Naga City, on the other hand, talked about “Strengthening the People and Community through Housing Cooperative.”
Two more Regional Stakeholders Forum will be held: one in Davao in August and another in Bacolod in September.
