Powerful rides

- HYUNDAI SANTA FE

THERE IS nothing like driving a powerful car on the road. Nothing can replicate the sense of control, nor the particular connectedness you can get to speed and mobility. Such cars deliver the command you need over the road to react to splitsecond decisions, drive over challenging conditions with stability and efficiency, and get you where you need to go safely and quickly.

We’ve put together a list of cars that promise to deliver that and more.

SUZUKI VITARA

Suzuki Philippines introduced an all-new sport utility vehicle (SUV) to contend with the big players in the market. Styled as an evolution of its Vitara line, Suzuki’s fourth-generation crossover is now a subcompact, offering drivers a smaller vehicle without compromising on performance and function.

The Vitara’s 1.6-liter engine has been updated with a design for torquey performance across rev range. Weight savings in the engine and related parts help the vehicle realize superior fuel economy together with high output and torque on and off the road. The tightened design also lends ease to drivers, allowing for maneuverability in narrow roads in both the city and rural areas.

With the model tracing its origins in China and Hungary, the design is heavily influenced by European sport utility vehicle design. A forceful yet sleek aesthetic was sculpted on the Vitara’s front fascia and athletic frame, with wraparound energy-saving LED projector type headlamps on low beam and a blue colored projector cover projecting an overall cooler facade.

Inside, function and comfort come to the forefront. The Vitara’s instrument panel features a muscular center console with a boldly designed ornament. The upper part of the linear instrument panel includes a round clock and a round air outlet that give the panel a youthful, sporty look. The dark interior theme and suede inserts on the leather seats promise long-lasting comfort, while the 10-inch Android infotainment display with offline navigation via six speakers bring an entertainment experience to brighten up lengthy trips. HYUNDAI SANTA FE

The South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai held nothing back in the design of Santa Fe. This SUV’s exterior is built around a Storm Edge concept that represents bold and robust design indicating the power and delicacy of nature during the storm creating in the sky.

With 2.2 CRDi diesel engine with VGT powering it under the hood, Santa Fe promises unmatched power and performance. The engine delivers maximum power of 200 PS at 3,800 rpm as well as 45 kilogram meter of torque at 1,750 to 2,750 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, which brings improved intuitive operability, nighttime drivability, illuminated position indicators and the perk of never needing to change transmission oil.

Additionally, Santa Fe has afront McPherson strut type suspension that delivers better ride and greater stability while driving and braking. A rear multilink suspension, meanwhile, makes it possible to create a more spacious rear compartment than in-wheel rear suspension cars, delivering a more comfortable ride.

Santa Fe is equipped with a number of safety and security technologies. One of which is anti-lock braking system, which prevents the wheels from locking up during breaking to maintain tractive contact with the road. It comes with an electronic brake force distribution,
