Biography of public relations guru Charlie Agatep launched
PREMIERE JOURNALISM and communication scholar Crispin Maslog has launched a new book that details the life and career of esteemed public relations (PR) professional Carlos “Charlie” Agatep, known for his invaluable contributions to the PR industry in the Philippines. The book launch was held at the Silliman University College of Mass Communication recently.
The biography provides insights into the colorful life of Mr. Agatep, from his childhood days, to the humble beginnings of his career, to being considered the godfather of PR in the country and a pillar of Philippine communication. The book includes a foreword by former press secretary and now Manila Bulletin vicepresident Herminio “Sonny” Coloma.
Mr. Agatep is known to many as the guru of the PR industry in the Philippines. Throughout his fruitful career, Mr. Agatep has helped different organizations build sustainable relationships with their audiences and stakeholders, for which he has won countless awards and accolades, including the prestigious Gawad Panday Award, the highest recognition given to a Filipino PR practitioner by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.
“We all know Charlie Agatep as the country’s PR guru and one of the most respected names in Philippine communication. But behind that title is a man who went through great pain at different points in his life, each resulting in a loss — his childhood, his family, and the first love of his life — before learning that there is joy after sorrow, glory after pain,” said Mr. Maslog.
“This book is meant to tell his story and serve as an inspiration to anyone who is going through a tough time in their lives. It also features some of the published works of the guru over the years, which I’m sure will be useful to anyone who is in or wants to start a career in public relations, or any career related to communication,” he said.
The “PR Guru” by Crispin Maslog is available in all leading bookstores nationwide.
