WWF-Philippines’ Earth Hour campaign bags Quill awards
THE IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious awards program in the field of business communication, recently honored the landmark work of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines’ 2017 implementation of the global Earth Hour campaign that sought to inform and enjoin the general public on the urgent need to create solutions to the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges and harness the collective power of its millions of supporters to build a sustainable future for all.
WWF-Philippines, together with its communications partner ComCo Southeast Asia and the rest of its allies, bagged two Quill awards (Communication Management — Nonprofit Campaign and Communication Skills — Special Events) for Approximately 165 megawatts per hour were saved during the nationwide switch-off, which is equivalent to shutting down a medium-sized coal power plant.
“We believe that our country’s youth have the strength to impact change, especially when it comes to issues as crucial as climate change,” said Joel Palma, President and CEO of WWFPhilippines. “Through their cumulative influence, they are catalysts for the new and succeeding generations in the environmental conservation battle.”
