Nurture Wellness Village launches Wellness Intervention program
LIFESTYLE DISEASES and their complications remain to be the leading causes of death in the Philippines.
With more than 200 Filipinos dying of heart disease everyday, six out of 10 people dying with diabetes, and one person dying of stroke every nine minutes, this is a health concern that needs to be addressed.
Also known as non-communicable diseases (NCDs), lifestyle diseases are chronic diseases which tend to be of long duration. These result from a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioral factors. Lifestyle diseases include heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
According to Department of Health (DoH) Secretary Francisco Duque, “The Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) crisis is a perfect storm that threatens to undermine all the progress we have made in recent years and the dreams of all Filipino families for our country.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines and DoH have raised the urgent need for a multisectoral approach to address the epidemic of non-communicable diseases. A greater investment in health promotion and protection measures, with emphasis on prevention is a must.
In response to this call, Nurture Wellness Village — a pioneer in the Philippine spa and wellness industry — is introducing Wellness Intervention.
Wellness Intervention promotes healthy habits and prevent chronic sickness through education and lifestyle change. Using tried and tested natural remedies, the program’s approach is holistic, evidence-based and works with conventional medicine to prevent and address the root cause of chronic disease.
The program focuses on three key areas: Prevention, Recovery and Rejuvenation. Wellness Intervention includes accommodations, meals and a series of healthy lifestyle activities. The program involves diagnostic tests, computerized health scan, nutritional assessment and counseling, healthy juice preparation, classes on healthy cooking, fitness and exercise, detoxification and immune-boosting therapies, yoga and tai qi gong.
For the program to be effective, a week’s stay (seven days and six nights) is recommended. Wellness Intervention offers the following packages: Healthy Heart, Kidney Health, Diabetes Prevention, and Immune Boost and Transformation. Starter programs for a minimum stay of two days and one night are also available.
