ChickenZilla marks 7 years of ‘monster-sized goodness’

-

THIS MONTH marks the seventh anniversary of the proudly Filipino boneless fried chicken brand, ChickenZilla. Inspired by the chicken chop stalls found in night markets throughout Asia, ChickenZilla brought the concept of multi-flavored giant chicken chops to Philippine shores last 2012.

ChickenZilla was founded by friends Eisen Munoz, Nikki Gayod, and Chris Yu, soon after they graduated from university. Being avid travellers and foodies, the trio was always looking out for food trends and concepts abroad that would fit the preferences of the Filipino market. The group noticed how strong the local preference was for fried chicken, and wanted to offer a product that was comfortable and familiar, yet also new and exciting.

In 2012, ChickenZilla began its food retail operations with a single night market stall, and began building a strong loyal following among customers throughout Metro Manila. “Customers would travel for more than two hours just to get their fix of our boneless fried chicken. That’s when we knew we had something special,” said business development head Nikki Gayod.

From a single stall in night markets, ChickenZilla has expanded to a network of 11 branches across Metro Manila.

This has become a welcome relief to the customers who previously had to travel through traffic to buy their ChickenZilla meals. Branches can be found in nearly all major commercial areas from Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Ortigas

Center, Makati CBD, and Bonifacio Global City. “Our branches were initially placed in office buildings or within business districts as we had noticed that our clientele was mostly made up of office workers looking for a quick, hearty, and delicious meal,” noted finance director Chris Yu. Since then, ChickenZilla has also expanded its footprint and can now also be found in some of the most popular malls and shopping centers, in order to serve a larger and broader market.

On top of network growth, ChickenZilla has also expanded its menu to incorporate new fan favorites including chicken tempura, chicken okonomiyaki, flavored wings, as well as other delectable nonchicken items. The company has even ventured into offering milk tea to compliment its food line. “We would like to thank all our loyal customers for supporting us and helping us grow over these past seven years. We will continue working hard to offer you creative and delicious food concepts that will bring a smile to your face,” said ChickenZilla President Eisen Munoz.
