Profiles of the 2020 MAP Board of Governors
ATTY. FRANCISCO “FRANCIS” EDRALIN LIM is the president of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) for 2020.
Atty. Lim is the 71st president of the MAP since its inception in 1950.
He is a senior partner and member of the Executive and Special Committees of the Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW).
He previously served as president and CEO of Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) and Securities Clearing Corporation of the Philippines.
He is a director/trustee of several companies, such as Alphaland Corp., Energy Development Corp., Insular Life Assurance Co., and Producers Savings Bank Corp.
He is the former president of Shareholders’ Association of the Philippines (SharePHIL), director of Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), trustee of CIBI Foundation, Inc., and trustee of Judicial Reform Initiative, Inc.
He is a recipient of various awards from several institutions, including “Lawyer of the Year
– Philippines” by Benchmark Litigation, AsiaPacific Awards 2019; “Market Leader: Banking and Mergers & Acquisitions” (2019) by the International Finance Law Review (IFLR1000); “Deal Maker of the Year” by Thomson Reuters Asian Legal Business Philippine Law Awards 2017; “Commended External Counsel of the Year” by the In-House Community Counsels (2016-2018); “Punong Gabay Award” from the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators (PCDEB); and “Most Outstanding Alumnus in Private Law Practice” by the Ateneo Law Alumni Association.
He was co-author of The Philippine Competition Act: Salient Points and Emerging Issues.
He is a professor of Law at the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) and the San Beda Graduate School of Law. He is vice-chair of the Commercial Law Department and professorial lecturer of the Philippine Judicial Academy.
He actively assisted in the enactment of several Philippine laws, such as Financial Rehabilitation and Insolvency Act (FRIA), Credit Investment System Act (CISA), Real Estate Investment Trust Act (REITA), Personal Equity Retirement Account Act (PERAA), and Philippine Competition Act.
He is actively involved in the formulation of several Philippine procedural rules, such as Rules of Court, Rules of Evidence, Interim Rules on Intra-Corporate Controversies, Rules on Electronic Evidence, Rules on Notarial Practice, Rules on DNA Evidence, Financial Rehabilitation Rules of Procedure, and the Financial Liquidation and Suspension of Payments Rules of Procedure.
He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from AdMU and his Master of Laws from University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of Philippine Bar and the New York State Bar.
