Singapore Cooperation Programme
SINCE 1992, the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) has continued to share Singapore’s development experience with more than 130,000 government officials from over 170 countries, territories, and international/regional organizations. The SCP focuses on human resource development as it believes that people are a country’s most valuable and renewable asset.
The SCP also demonstrates its commitment to give back to the international community, having received assistance from others during our early years of independence.
Amidst trying times during the COVID-19 crisis, SCP continues to support fellow developing countries in achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (#SCPforSDGs). In particular, the SCP is rolling out e-learning courses to support capacity building. Over the past year, the SCP has also worked with partners, such as the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the US government to deliver courses on disaster risk reduction, responding to disease outbreaks, as well as primary healthcare.
The SCP is ever pertinent for ASEAN to band together, find solutions to meet current challenges and explore new growth areas. It supports ASEAN integration by providing platforms for mutual learning in topics of common interest. These include the ASEAN Training Awards, the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI), ASEAN smart cities workshops, and courses to support the ASEAN Secretariat in its work.
