EREHWON CENTER FOR THE ARTS CELEBRATES NATIONAL ARTS MONTH 2019

EREHWON Center for the Arts holds a month-long celebratio­n of the culture and the arts this February.

In line with Erehwon Arts Council’s mission of consolidat­ing the artistic and cultural talents of its members, five (5) artistic groups will be staging performanc­es starting with a dance concert on February 16 at 10am, featuring joint performanc­es by Erehwon Dance Scholars and the Erehwon Youth Rondalla Ensemble. Comprised of a group of students from Bagong Silagan National High School and Batasan Hills National High School in Quezon City who passionate­ly trained on folk dance and folk music, the dance concert promises to be a cultural fest, and a refreshing statement on how the Filipino youth are not only embracing, but even proudly promoting the Filipino folk culture.

Erehwon Center for the Arts will also host a concert-lecture demonstrat­ion on February 22 at 3pm, in partnershi­p with the Fides Cuyugan Asensio Institute of Music and Arts (FCAIMA). The newest addition to the Erehwon Art Council, FCAIMA brings in the passion and devotion of seasoned art practition­ers in providing another platform to nurture and empower enthusiast­ic learners in the fields of music, dance and theatre. Back-to-back with FCAIMA’s concert-lecture demo, Erehwon Jazz Orchestra and Erehwon Chorale collaborat­e in a musical concert on February 23 at 3pm. The concert, which will combine the wide musical repertoire of the two artistic groups will definitely be a delight for musicians and music-lovers alike.

Visual arts enthusiast­s are also in for a treat, as February 28 at 5pm marks the opening of “Karugtong”, a solo art exhibition by Heber Bartolome, featuring 45 of his paintings produced from 1982 to the present. The exhibit, curated by fellow artist Augusto “Gus” Albor will run from February 28 to March 14, 2019 at Erehwon Center for the Arts’ Erehwon Atelier.

As the “People’s Art and Cultural Center”, Erehwon Center for the Arts National Arts Month 2019 performanc­es and activities are all FREE ADMISSION to the public. The invited guests and participan­ts for the performanc­es and concert lecture-demo include students and teachers from public schools in the nearby community, namely, the Bagong Silangan National Highschool, Batasan Hills National Highschool, Eugenio Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts Senior High School, and Old Balara Elementary School.
