BEFORE the outbreak, kids get only about 30 minutes to an hour of physical activity or exercise in school once a week—if we’re looking to defeat child obesity and the sedentary lifestyle among children, then once a week isn’t going to cut it.

A healthy and active lifestyle is important even for kids. However, even before the pandemic, kids only get limited exercise in school.

A rising organization catering to this growing need is Game On Sports PH, a venture founded by athletes who are themselves passionate about sports and are keen to see its development of youth in our country.

“As we move into the New Year and a fresh start, parents are still encouraged to prioritize indoor activities and safety when looking for new activities for their kids to try. Sports remains to be a popular choice and, while the experience now is a bit different to what we’re used to, the benefits you get from it remain the same.” a Game On Sports PH’S’ press release stated.

The group is founded by former athletes Krizanne Ty, Lia Calingacion and Danica Caynap. They specialize in quality training programs designed to help kids discover their love for sports and build core values.

Currently, all activities are conducted online to meet the needs of kids today.

“Everyone of us at Game On Sports PH— from the founders, the coaches and even our operations team—has witnessed first-hand what sports can do for kids and we’re excited to give the youth today the same experience albeit being online for now,” Caynap said.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow your skill set, Game On Sports PH has a program for every level. Open to kids aged three to 12, participants can choose from either their Proactiv Multi-sport Camp or the Focused Sports Sessions.

The Proactiv Multi-sport Camp introduces the basics of different sports to kids such as basketball, football, rugby, athletics, gymnastics, among others. Broken down into a series of 30-minute sessions, kids are taken through fun drills and activities designed to improve their flexibility, strength, coordination and stamina—as well as develop important life skills, such as communication, confidence, and character.

The classes are conducted in partnership with international group Proactiv Sports based in Singapore and grassroots sports development advocate Milo Philippines, with whom they are the exclusive multi-sport partner of the Milo Home Court campaign.

The Focused Sports Sessions, on the other hand, aims to help a child progress in the sport of their choice. Each 45-minute session concentrates on the skills and drills needed to improve and advance their talents. Currently, kids can choose from either rugby, basketball, football, boxing, gymnastics, karate and high intentity interval training.

All classes are conducted in a safe, fun and engaging environment using equipment from popular sports retailer Decathlon. Class sizes are regularly adjusted to ensure an optimal learning experience between students and teachers.

“We’re grateful to have found partners who share the same passion for sports and youth development as we do,” Calingacion said. “They have been instrumental in helping us get Game On Sports PH running and we look forward to another fruitful year of helping kids discover their love for sports.”

“We are driven to help every child discover the sport they love and we look forward to being with them every step of the way as they progress into better athletes and better people,” Ty said.

Coach Caynap said: “Game On Sports lets me bring together my passions for both youth development and sports. I firmly believe in how it can help transform our younger generation to be more focused, disciplined and empowered.”

There’s a saying in organizations that, “As above, so below,” and if you see the passion, the eagerness and the enthusiasm in the eyes of the kids who’ve gone through the program, it’s because Game On Sports is led by one of its most passionate leaders, Ty.
