Cold-chain database project set to start in Jan
THE private sector and various government agencies, spearheaded by the Board of Investments (BOI), are set to launch the Cold Chain Database Project by February 2023, which is aimed at keeping tabs on the agency’s investment prospects for the cold chain industry.
According to one of the country’s leading investment promotion agencies, the upcoming database offers a “data-driven” basis for policy formulation and investment promotion.
“It maps out existing cold chain service providers, estimates and forecasts supply and demand for cold chain service, and generates data on present and future cold chain service gaps focusing on agriculture and fishery products, which needs to pass through the cold chain,” the BOI said in a news statement issued on Thursday.
In addition, the BOI noted, the database provides a guide about the specific locations where investment promotions should be focused, while aspiring to meet the philippine cold chain industry Road map’ s target of increasing local cold chain capacity by 50,000 pal let positions per year in the near term.
According to the attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Insightscs Corp., a digital supply chain platform developer, recently presentedto an inter-agency working group the concluded cold chain database.

The project commenced through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) among the BOI, the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) through its Global Partnership for Improving the Food Cold Chain in the Philippines funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Insightscs Corp.
