DMW ties up with Dubai-based digital firm
THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is now enhancing its digital services for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) by adopting a cloud-based platform.
In a statement issued last Monday, DMW Secretary Hans J. Cacdac sai he signed last week a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Dubai-based Data Flow Group (DFG) to facilitate the transition from their current system.
“This partnership with Data Flow Group addresses critical limitations in our current database infrastructure by transitioning to a cloud-based platform courtesy of the generous Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud services donation,” the DMW chief said.
He noted the cloud-based platform will improve the storage and computing capabilities of DMW’S online systems.
Under its MOA with DFG, DMW will conduct a joint technical study and develop “advanced digital solutions to enhance the registration, monitoring, and verification processes for OFWS at no cost to the government.”
Cacdac said the digital solutions will streamline user experiences of their website, and provide robust protection to OFWS against fraudulent activities.
The agreement also includes provisions on enhanced data management, capacity building and training, and policy and program development.
Once fully implemented, DMW expects the MOA to improve its operational efficiency by aligning its services “to global best practices and addressing the evolving needs of the international migrant workforce.”
The MOA was signed at the DMW’S Mandaluyong Head Office on May 9.
Aside from the Philippines, DFG also has other service contracts for document and credential verification with other countries including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
