The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is set to bid goodbye to coronavirus-hit Season 82 in a simple closing ceremony.

UAAP Season 82 president Emmanuel Fernandez of Ateneo de Manila University said they would hold a virtual closing ceremony on 25 July that will be shown in various platforms of their broadcast partner, ABS-CBN.

The ceremony will feature University of Santo Tomas as it accepts the general championship in both the juniors and seniors divisions.

Then, Ateneo would officially turnover the hosting of Season 83 to De La Salle University.

“It’s basically the same as before but the only difference is that it will be a one-hour show that will be made by ABS-CBN,” Fernandez said.

“Actually, coming up with videos was the most difficult part, but ABS-CBN helped in the production.”

He added that everything in closing ceremony had already been recorded.

“All the videos were taped from the acceptance of the trophies to interviews of athletes and interviews of officials,” he said.

“This is something we made for the athletes, the schools and the fans. Season 82 may be affected by the virus, but we still want to give them a proper exit.”
