Regional task force ends Cebu City lockdowns

The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (RIATF-MEID) earlier lifted the hard lockdown it imposed on five Sitios in Cebu City with high numbers of coronaviru­s disease 2019(COVID-19) infections.

Regional Director Leocadio Trovela and DILG-Cebu City head Lawyer Ian Kenneth Lucero issued the order in Resolution 11 dated 13 July 2020 which is “effectivel­y lifting the total lockdown in Sitio Zapatera in Barangay Luz; Sitio Gonzalo in Barangay Tejero; Sitio Alaska in Barangay Mambaling; Sitio Callejon in Barangay Labangon; and Barangay Bacayan.

These five communitie­s were considered as COVID-19 hotspots in Cebu City due to highest confirmed cases.

“RIATF-MEID favorably acted on the request of the Cebu City Government based on the data presented by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) which forms part of this resolution, wherein the latter recommende­d for the lifting of hard lockdown in the abovementi­oned areas,” part of the order stated.

Trovela and Lucero, however, reiterated that local officials should continue to monitor and evaluate the situation of these communitie­s

The resolution likewise urges residents to continue observing health protocols while the whole of Cebu City remains under enhanced community quarantine.

Sitio Zapatera in Luz was the first community to be infected by the virus back in April. To date, more than 200 of its residents have been reported to contract the viral respirator­y disease.

Sitio Callejon in Labangon also registered more than 200 COVID-190 infections were cases in the community has reached more than 200 and while Alaska, Mambaling logged almost 700 cases.
