Another Caloocan barangay under lockdown
There are 42 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the neighborhood
A barangay in Caloocan City has been placed under total lockdown due to the rise of coronavirus cases in the area.
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan yesterday announced Barangay 38 is under lockdown until 20 July. It started on Tuesday, 14 July.
In a Facebook post, the mayor said contact tracing and mass testing will be done to prevent the spread of the infection within the barangay.
There are 42 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the neighborhood. Malapitan assured the affected families that they will be provided with food packs for the duration of the isolation.
Earlier, he also placed Barangay 93 under lockdown from 12 to 18 July due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, Taytay, Rizal policemen have arrested 53 curfew violators as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Taytay police chief P/Maj. Rodel Ban-o said those arrested on Tuesday night failed to wear a mask and observe curfew hours.
Of the 53 individuals who violated the curfew, nine of them were minors.
Ban-o said the curfew violators were held temporarily at the town’s holding facility for about eight to 10 hours.
The local government has set up a temporary jail facility for persons who will be arrested for violating the community quarantine.
“While we still do not have an ordinance ticket, we keep those we have arrested at our holding facility,” Ban-o said in a phone interview.
He added the minors who were caught violating the curfew will be brought to their homes.
The town’s police chief noted they will continuously implement the curfew townwide to help restrict the movement of people and to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
As of 5 p.m., 14 July, Taytay has 177 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 17 deaths and 78 recoveries.
