Cha Eun Woo of K-Pop group ASTRO has been offered a role in a new TV series with the working title Island that will air on the South Korean cable network Orion Cinema Network (OCN), his management Fantagio confirmed.

The offer comes on the heels of his 2020 drama starrer, True Beauty.

Korean news website soompi. com reported that Island is “a fantasy exorcism drama based on a webtoon of the same name. It will tell the story of Pan, who needs a woman to end his cursed immortal life, and Won Mi Ho, the daughter of a rich family who is being targeted by goblins.

“The two are joined by exorcist priest John who is consumed by the guilt of having been unable to protect one girl…”

Woo, 23, is said to be in talks to play Kang Chan Hyuk, also known as John — “a hip exorcist priest who grew up in the United States and he has watched Korean dramas in order to not forget his mother tongue. He appears to be a bright character, but he has a dark past.”

Also offered to join the cast of Island are Kim Nam-Gil (Memoir of a Murderer) and Seo Ye-Ji (By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture). Island is set to premiere on the second half of 2021.

Cha Eun Woo started out as an actor before joining the six-member group ASTRO.
