Some 305 medical front-liners of the Philippine National Police have received their CoronaVac vaccine shots in the first two days of the vaccination rollout.

The allocation of Sinovac Biotech CoronaVac Covid-19 vaccines for the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been increased from 800 doses to 1,200.

PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar announced this Thursday, adding that the number of vaccinated PNP medical personnel had already reached 885 since vaccination started last March 1.

The vaccination, according to him, will continue until the remaining CoronaVac doses have been expended.

Eleazar said they still have no advice on whether they will be getting allocations for the newly-arrived AstraZeneca vaccines.

Some 305 medical frontliners of the PNP)have received their CoronaVac vaccine shots in the first two days of the vaccination rollout.

Only three persons developed adverse effects, such as mild skin rashes, from the immunization, according to Eleazar.

There were about 80 police personnel who reported “No Go” on Tuesday, mostly for clinical reasons, but could still go back for rescreening.

Earlier, PNP Chief, Gen. Debold Sinas, said 800 vaccine doses were initially allotted for the police force’s health workers, particularly those working as front-liners at the PNP General Hospital.

About 200 PNP health workers will be vaccinated each day, based on the latest data it showed that recoveries among PNP personnel who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 comprise 95.7 percent of 11,420 cases in the police force.

As of Tuesday night, there were 463 active cases while 29 have recovered, pushing the tally of recoveries to 10,926.

The death toll remains at 31.

Eleazar noted that the PNP had already logged into 48 new cases, while 17 patients and 446 patients are recuperating in hospitals and quarantine facilities, respectively.
