Go sends more aid to calamity victims
Go reminded beneficiaries to take necessary precautions against Covid-19 and to strengthen their immune system as protection for them and their loved ones
To help disaster-hit Filipinos recover from the recent calamity, the office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has recently provided assistance to 50 typhoon “Auring” victims in Socorro, Surigao del Norte.
The senator’s team provided meals, food packs, medicines, vitamins, masks and shields to the beneficiaries who were severely hit by the massive flooding caused by heavy rains brought by typhoon “Auring” last February.
The distribution activity, held at the Socorro Municipal Gym, was carried out in batches and under strict compliance with the health and safety protocols against Covid-19.
Identified beneficiaries were also provided with new pairs of shoes, while another beneficiary was also given a bicycle, an alternative and convenient mode of transportation amid the pandemic, where the recipient was also provided with a computer tablet for his child’s use while studying at home under the blended learning approach.
One of the beneficiaries identified Cherryme Dingding expressed her gratitude to Senator Go and the government agencies present in the event for all the assistance she received.
As chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Go reminded beneficiaries to take necessary precautions against Covid-19 and to strengthen their immune system as protection for them and their loved ones.
Go also advised beneficiaries to properly wear masks and shields, observe social distancing, wash their hands frequently and stay at home as much as possible.
He likewise urged beneficiaries to visit the nearest Malasakit Center located at the Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City to seek medical assistance for their health concerns and hospital needs.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop where the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health, PhilHealth and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office are housed under one roof to help poor and indigent patients settle their hospital and other medical bills. As part of the government’s on-going efforts to assist those affected by calamities, DSWD representatives provided separate financial assistance to the beneficiaries. While the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Labor and Employment also validated potential beneficiaries for their livelihood and employment programs, respectively.
Following this development, Go thanked local government officials, through the leadership of Mayor Felizardo Galanida, for their untiring support and assistance for their constituents, especially in times of need.
