Globe readies facilities as ‘Bising’ intensifies
Globe on Saturday said that it is ready to extend assistance to residents in Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, Caraga and other areas threatened by typhoon “Bising” as part of its intensified disaster preparedness campaign.
The telco also assured that its technical and support personnel are on call, as well as standby generators for use of its facilities.
With this, Globe’s “Libreng Tawag,” Charging and WiFi services are set to be deployed in areas where the typhoon is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds.
Globe is also providing free data access to the website of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) for Globe and TM customers as it reminded Filipinos in affected areas to always be prepared and make sure to tune into legitimate news sites and updates from authorities.
Globe likewise advised affected residents to store enough food and water, prepare their flashlights with extra batteries, candles, as well as first aid kits and fully charge their phones, and expect to receive SMS alerts from NDRRMC and to stay indoors.
As of late Saturday afternoon, the center of the eye of typhoon "Bising" was located, based on all available data, was at about 460 kilometers east of Guiuan in Eastern Samar.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA, “Bising” is moving in the direction of west northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 240 km/h.
It said that typhoon "Bising" slightly accelerated and intensified as it moves west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea.
