Absurd, Go says of VP as prexy yarn

Go said that if Duterte would really throw his hat in the VP race, it would be to complete some unfinished business

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go brushed aside as fairy tale an idea being floated that he may run for president and President Rodrigo Duterte for vice president in 2022 so the latter can perpetuate himself in power.

“That’ a figment of imagination or their hallucination,” Go said in Filipino. “First of all, I am not a candidate. I am not interested to run for president.”

Go added that as Vice President, Mr. Duterte will also not allow the President, whoever he or she may be, just to give up so he (Duterte) can take over.

Coffee shop talks aver that if Go is elected President and Duterte also wins as his VP, the former will readily give up the Palace to the former Davao City mayor.

Before being elected senator, Go has served as Duterte’s assistant when he was mayor and also when he assumed the presidency in 2016.

Likewise, Go said it’s unthinkable for anyone elected president to just resign, more so when the President and Vice President have won under one ticket.

“It would have been a waste if the tandem wins and one would then give up,” Go pointed out. “He said that would waste the trust given them by the people.”

Go said that if Duterte would really throw his hat in the VP race, it would be because he may want to complete some unfinished business.

Mr. Duterte still has a lot to contribute to the country as VP, the senator added.

“Anyway, the people will decide. This is a democracy. We have an election. It is the people who will vote and choose who they want to be the President and Vice President,” Go said.
