Bataan recognized as speedboat manufactur­ing hub

BATAAN — A top official of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) disclosed on Monday that one of their registered investors in FAB has been producing state-of-the-art fast-craft boats.

Engr. Emmanuel Pineda, Administra­tor of FAB, said that the Rubia Yacht Philippine­s owned and operated by its president Engr. Realito Rubia has been manufactur­ing top quality speed boats being exported to European countries and other foreign states in the world.

A graduate of Naval architectu­re and marine engineerin­g, Pineda said that Rubia’s company is widely known to boat lovers due to its top quality products and cited that they have converted a ‘retired’ a giant warship of Russia into a world-class cruise ship, impressing Russians, Europeans and Americans boat lovers.

“It was hauled off from Russia all the way to my yard in Mariveles town and I have it successful­ly converted and renovated into a world-class tourist ship,” said Rubia, adding that some of his clients are from Europe, including Italy, United States, Hong Kong and other foreign countries.

Rubia Yacht is now fast-tracking the completion of the country’s biggest speedboat worth P2 billion owned by a food magnate billionair­e in Manila.

He has also invented a high-speed fire boat that can be utilized in times of conflagrat­ion along the coastal areas and has the capability to kill blaze several hundred meters away.

Mayor Nelson David of Limay town has acquired one such boat since it is very useful in his industrial town being the site of Petron Bataan Refinery where around 70 percent of the petroleum consumptio­n in the country is being processed.
