Kapatagan, Lanao del Sur Mayor Raida Bansil Maglangit on Monday ordered a heightened campaign against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) amid the threat of the more transmissible Delta variant in the country.

In a radio interview, Maglangit said that the provincial government is closely monitoring the situation after the Department of Health (DoH) confirmed the local transmission in the country.

“We have already prepared for this eventuality as we have constructed an isolation facility so that in any case that we get positive cases, we automatically send them to the facility,” Maglangit said.

The Kapatagan mayor added that she even volunteered to be inoculated to encourage his constituents to get vaccinated.

“I got inoculated to encourage our constituents to get vaccinated,” Maglangit said. “They were apprehensive and hesitant because of some news that reached them, but I assured them that Covid-19 vaccines are safe.”

Maglangit added that she also assisted in the vaccination rollout in Kapatagan.

“As a Philippine Army reservist, I also helped in the inoculation program of the local government,” she said.

According to Maglangit, the government also provides assistance to the farmers, drivers and single mothers affected by the pandemic since 2020.

“We did not wait for any assistance from outside sources because we know that immediate help should be given, especially to farmers, single mothers and drivers who lost their jobs and livelihood because of the pandemic,” said Maglangit, adding that the local government is providing rice subsidy to the residents of the municipality.
