-

Af ter the first nine months of 2021, MG Philippines recently reported sales figures of 4,258 units — a 49-percent increase compared to the same period in 2020, marking the brand’s robust year-on-year growth. MG Philippines also ended Q3 this year on a high note recording 725 unit sales in September alone, which is the highest month of sales so far for the brand in 2021.

MG Philippines successfully weathered the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, and achieved accelerated growth in sales performance over the past two years.

Driving sales for the carmaker are its two bestselling models: The MG 5 Sedan which is highly regarded in the local subcompact sedan category for its best-in-class features, exterior size, cabin and luggage space, and driving dynamics; and the highly popular, value-laden ZS Crossover sport utility vehicle.

From January to September 2021, total sales of the MG 5 sedan are recorded at 1,159 units, while the ZS Crossover SUV logs 2,979 unit sales over the same period. Compared to their year-to-date sales figures in 2020, both reflect marked increases at 51 percent and 67 percent for the MG 5 and ZS, respectively.

“We are happy that MG Philippines successfully weathered the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, and achieved accelerated growth in sales performance over the past two years,” MG Philippines CEO and president, Atty. Alberto Arcilla said.

“With these, MG Philippines was able to effectively adopt new and more efficient sales processes, implement exciting product offers, and execute marketing strategies that resulted in the brand’s continued growth and exceptional sales performance thus far in 2021.”

MG Philippines is primed to finish 2021 strong, starting Q4 with the introduction of the new ZST Crossover SUV: A fresh take on a crowd favorite, it is the first MG to enter the country sporting the brand’s updated global design language. The MG ZST is equipped with a new, turbocharged 1.3-liter engine that produces 160hp and 230N-m of torque.
