Saso played 26 LPGA Tour events and made three top 10 finishes — second in the LPGA Mediheal Championship, third in the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio, and sixth in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.

How Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan and the rest of the Filipinas fared in the Ladies Professional Golf Association and Epson Tours in 2022:

YUKA SASO

After winning the US Women’s Open in 2021, Yuka Saso’s performance dipped in 2022.

Saso played 26 LPGA Tour events and made three top 10 finishes — second in the LPGA Mediheal Championship, third in the Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio, and sixth in the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.

However, her season was marred by seven missed cuts, including the US Women’s Open and the Amundi Evian Championship.

Still, the 21-year-old Filipino-Japanese banked $773,294 (P43 million), ranked 36th in the tour.

Saso ranked third in driving distance (275.61 yards), fifth in putts per green in regulation (1.75), seventh in sub-par holes (355), and made 338 birdies and 17 eagles.

BIANCA PAGDANGANAN

Bianca Pagdanganan saw action in 18 events in the LPGA Tour and failed to advance 10 times.

She made only one Top 20 finish — a share of 19th in the AmazingCre Portland Classic. Her next best was a tie for 22nd in the Cognizant Founders Cup where she earned her biggest paycheck of $27,587 (about P1.4 million).

Despite the struggles, Pagdanganan earned $116,806 (about P6.5 million).

She ranked second in driving distance (277.5 yards) and made four eagles but fared badly in other categories: 147th in driving accuracy and 130th in putting average.

DOTTIE ARDINA

Dottie Ardina made a breakthrough win in the Epson Tour, one of the few good things that happened in the past year.

The 28-year-old Filipina highlighted her strong showing by winning the Copper Rock Championship last April with a closing 7-under-par. She collected $30,000.

She had a pair of Top 10 finishes — fourth at the season-ending Epson Tour Championship and 10th at the Circling Raven Championship.

Ardina missed only one cut in 16 events and went on to finish 20th in the money list with $66,457 (about P3.7 million).

She led the tour in sand saves and was No. 12 in scoring average (70.80). She’s 13th in putts per green in regulation (1.77) and 20th in driving accuracy (81.44 percent).

Ardina made only eight starts in the LPGA Tour, missing the cut four times two of which came at the US Women’s Open and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Her best finish was a tie for 29th in the Shoprite LPGA Classic.

CLARISS GUCE

Clariss Guce played 20 events in the Epson Tour and missed the cut eight times.

She had three Top 10 finishes — runner-up in the Guardian Championship, joint-third in the Island Resort Championship, and shared fifth in the El Dorado Shootout.

She wound up 25th on the money list with $51,526 (about P2.9 million).

Guce ranked 11th in sand saves and 17th in birdies made. She had 201 subpar holes and ranked 18th on the tour.

PAULINE DEL ROSARIO

In her first year on the tour, Pauline del Rosario made only six cuts in 17 starts.

She had a pair of Top 20 finishes — 12th in the Four Winds Invitational and 15th in the IOA Golf Classic.

Del Rosario earned only $11,327 (about P632,000).

Her only noteworthy statistic was 17th in sand saves.

ABBY AREVALO

Rookie Abby Arevalo played 14 events, missing the cut seven times.

Her best showing was joint fourth in the Guardian Championship. Her next best was a share of 36th in the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic. She earned $14,413 ($805,000) on her debut. Arevalo excelled in sand saves, ranked ninth, and made three eagles during the season.
