12 emission centers suspended LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade said the scheme sought to allow the registration of vehicles with “non-appearance” customers.
Twelve private emission testing centers or PETCs were issued suspension orders by the Land Transportation Office over reports they’re issuing fake emission results.
The LTO on Friday said it also issued show cause orders to the information technology providers of the 12 PETCs for alleged complicity with the irregularities.
LTO intelligence and investigation officer-in-charge Renan Melintante said some of the emission results uploaded by the 12 into the LTO database were found to be fake.
He said the LTO has issued a show cause order to the IT providers of the 12 PETCs to have them explain why their accreditation should not be revoked for their role as accomplices to the crime.
“PETCs are strictly forbidden from uploading to the LTO database fake, changed, or manipulated webcam-shot photos to make it seem that an inspection was conducted for the vehicle being registered),” Melintante explained.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade said the scheme sought to allow the registration of vehicles with “non-appearance” customers.
“Allowing non-appearance inspections is very dangerous due to possible accidents stemming from non-compliant vehicles. It will put the lives of the driver and passengers in danger as well others in the streets,” Tugade said.
Tugade warned all other errings PETCs that the government will go after them.

PCAG’s performance surpassed its P1.52 billion collection last year by 21 percent and its P1.58 billion target by 16 percent.
The group said its computer-aided risk management system implemented in August 2022 has been providing it with critical information leading to an increase in collections.
The BoC said it also raised P292 million from public auctions of overstaying cargoes, resulting in its ports being decongested.
