Bad weather damage to infra, agri bared

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the inclement weather has already damaged P171,230,996 worth of infrastruc­ture and P257,765,961 of agricultur­al products nationwide.

In its disaster report as of Saturday, NDRRMC also reported a total of 133,258 families equivalent to 552,131 individual­s have been affected by the heavy rains brought by the three weather systems: low-pressure area, northeast monsoon and shear line — with a total of 2,928 families or 9,220 individual­s were pre-emptively evacuated.

The bad weather also affected a total of 11,705 fishermen and farmers from Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the Davao region.

The National Irrigation Administra­tion also posted a total cost of damage amounting to P25,610,000 while the estimated cost of damage to other assets amounting to P4,841,810 was reported in MIMAROPA.

About 24 seaports were affected in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Davao region. There about 294 passengers were affected in Eastern Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula, with four domestic flights in the Bicol region and in Zamboanga still canceled.

NDRRMC has reported 42 roads and 10 bridges nationwide have remained impassable, while a total of 42 towns still have no power supply with13 towns from MIMAROPA, Bicol region, and Eastern Visayas suffering from the loss of communicat­ion in their areas.

NDRRMC said a total of 382 areas within the 12 regions in the country have experience­d landslides and flooding due to non-stop pouring of heavy rains — leaving 20 people dead, 8 injured and one person still missing.

About 1,135 damaged houses — 865 partially and 270 totally destroyed — amounting to P2,404,000.

Various national line agencies and local government units have already extended P32,367,486.68 worth of humanitari­an assistance to the affected families nationwide.
