Green community: Aboitiz’s LIMA Estate in Batangas secures e-buses
The partnership, inked last December 2022, seeks to decarbonize LIMA Estate’s transport system through the introduction of electric vehicles.
Aboitiz InfraCapital has signed a deal with Global Electric Transportation, an electric vehicle manufacturer, to secure a fleet of electric mini-buses to operate the shuttle system within its 800-hectare LIMA Estate in Batangas.
The partnership, inked last December 2022, seeks to decarbonize LIMA Estate through the deployment of e-buses by the second quarter of the year.
Rafael Fernandez de Mesa, head of AIC Economic Estates and president of LIMA Land, said the move is part of the Aboitiz Group’s “Great Transformation” into becoming the country’s first “techglomerate.”
“Aboitiz InfraCapital Economic Estates is committed to continuously introducing smart and sustainable features into our Estates. One of our priorities is decarbonizing LIMA Estate’s transport system through the introduction of electric vehicles,” he said.
Fernandez de Mesa noted that the agreement for LIMA Estate is only the latest in the Aboitiz Group’s effort to push sustainable and environment-friendly industrial estate developments nationwide.
In June last year, AIC also tapped the electric vehicle manufacturer for new routes of GET Cebu — a fleet of low-emission, air-conditioned and pollution-free COMET buses.
The route includes AIC’s Mactan Economic Zone 2, a 63-hectare economic zone registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority and hosts 14,000 workers.
Aboitiz InfraCapital said it continuously elevates and transforms its Economic Estates to become smart, next-generation, and sustainable economic centers.
The company commits to optimizing technology, data science, and artificial intelligence to accelerate the delivery of solutions, improve processes, and further drive economic, social and environmental progress in the country.
