The pandemic has burst the bubbles of fun at amusement parks and game centers. With the gradual easing of restrictions and shift to the “new normal,” Timezone assures to make the coming months more fun with about 50 additional and new amusement machines, bringing a total of more than 90, short-lane bowling games, billiards, VR games, premium karaoke machines, party rooms, and a large Prize Shop with a new architectural design.

During the holiday season, Timezone at Greenbelt 3 mall reopened with brand new games not available in other sites. Their Quezon City site at Fairview Terraces Mall, which opens by mid-February, will be the biggest.

“We used to have only 450 square meters of space here. But we got the adjacent space to get an additional 500 square meters space. [During] the latter part of the construction, we were forced to close the store to give way to full construction. It took us around two months to construct this new venue. Right now, we have around a total of 900 square meters,” shared Ryan Pablo, operations manager of Timezone, in an exclusive interview with Daily Tribune.

“Currently, it’s the Manila Bay [is the biggest branch]. But when [Timezone in Fairview Terraces] opens by mid-Feburary, that would be the biggest. That is 2,700 square meters. That will have 10 lanes of bowling and that will have the biggest party room around 250 square meters. Also, that will have the latest VR technology,” Pablo added.

What’s new?

The four lanes of short-lane social bowling have been exclusively constructed for Timezone. The billiard hall is perfect for friends who wish unwind after work or school. The newest, only in the Timezone Philippines, is the VR Warship Simulator that will enable thrilling adventure through 9D virtual reality.

The brand-new attraction that Timezone has conceptualized is the Prize Shop, where guests are allowed to walk through the prize redemption area, just get their prizes as if they are shopping, and then pay for them at the counter using the e-tickets they earned.

The game hub is also offering larger prizes. Anything guests want to redeem, such as a cellphone or an appliance, they can get as long as they have enough e-tickets.

The Party Room is perfect for any celebration. At the moment, Greenbelt 3 is the second site to offer a party area. The first store with such facility is at Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig.

“Part of the offerings in the future is to package this with the arcade games,” Pablo revealed.

The amusement site’s goal is not just to provide fun and thrilling games, but to be part of everyone’s celebrations. The Party Room caters for birthdays, barkada gatherings, or family parties. The package includes a selection of games like bowling, 9D VR, and many more. It comes with a pre-loaded card to use for these.

Aside from these, Timezone released the Timezone Fun App in November, with which guests and players can enjoy exclusive promos, earn rewards, play games and win vouchers.

“We recently launched our very own mobile app called the Timezone Fun App, which our guests can use to take advantage of exclusive promos and discounts and vet soon, reload online. They can use the app to track their power card balance, tickets, and rewards as well. So far, after launching on 16 November, there are already more than 30,000 guests who have been enjoying the app,” said Raff Prats, president and general manager of Timezone.

However, the application does not offer re-loading of power cards yet, but Pablo said they are currently working on it with a third-party service provider.

The app is available for download on iOS Apple App Store and Google Play Store for Android.

Safer and hygienic playing experience

While Baby Boomers, Generation Xers, and Millennials may have been used to tokens to enjoy the games, Gen Z now has the convenience of using power cards.

“Power cards are much better than tokens as they are convenient, hygienic, and modern, not bulky, heavy and unhygienic tokens. With the option of upgrading to an RFID tap card, guests cannot tap their cards for an instant game credit compared to swiping them,” Prats said.

Timezone ensures that safety is their priority now that they are operating under the pandemic.

“We make it a point that before and after we operate, we sanitize our games, especially those high-touch points like the joystick, buttons, and swiper,” Pablo said.

“We have this moving staff and often, they sanitize the high-touch points, counters and buttons. That’s how we manage the cleanliness to avoid the spread of diseases,” he added.

Bigger and better fun-filled experience

“When we opened earlier, it was very fulfilling, especially coming from the pandemic. You can see the joy in the eyes of the guests, and that’s what we want — to give experience, to give happiness. At the moment, we are free to move. Because of that, we made sure we have something to offer to them,” Pablo said.

Dozens of new games are already available at the Greenbelt 3 branch, and dozens more are in the pipeline for guests of any age.
