Support the President, Go urges military, police
Eduardo Año as National Security Adviser and Carlito Galvez Jr. as defense secretary will aid in supporting the Armed Forces of the Philippines
Amid destabilization rumors, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has urged the military and the police to unite and continue their support for the government and President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s administration.
“He has the mandate of the people and he’s doing his job,“said Go during an ambush interview after attending the inauguration of a multipurpose building in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Go stressed that the military remains a professional unit and will carry out its roles and responsibilities based on its sworn mandate.
The senator continued by saying that the appointment of Eduardo Año as National Security Adviser and Carlito Galvez Jr. as defense secretary will aid in supporting the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
On Sunday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. affirmed Galvez’s appointment as Secretary of the Department of National Defense, citing his record of success in promoting peace and security as a major reason for his appointment.
On the other hand, Marcos made reference to Año’s “long experience in intelligence” in appointing him to the position of NSA Secretary.
Meanwhile, Go reiterated his push for his filed Senate Bill 194 or the E-Governance Act of 2022 which mandates the government to establish an integrated, interconnected, and interoperable information and resource-sharing and communications network spanning the entirety of the national and local government, an internal records management information system, an information database, and digital portals for the delivery of public services.
This the senator said after expressing his support to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s initiative to strengthen data sharing among government agencies in a bid to address agricultural smuggling in the Philippines efficiently.
“Government should be more responsive to the demands of changing times. There’s no better time than now to prioritize the government’s digital transformation. The government must use information and communications technology to better serve its purpose and get closer to the people in an era where practically everything can be done online and through other digital channels,” Go said.
