Aircraft stalls at NAIA

At around 10:43 a.m., the stalled aircraft was already extracted and operations at NAIA resumed after the sweep and clearance conducted by the Airport Grounds Operations and Safety Division

The Manila Internatio­nal Airport Authority reported that an aircraft stalled along the runway of the Ninoy Aquino Internatio­nal Airport Runway 13/31 on Tuesday morning.

Officials from the MIAA said that the crew and passengers passengers have been declared unharmed by the Medical Office.

Airport authoritie­s also clarified that the incident has no significan­t impact on flight operations at the NAIA and at around 10:43 a.m., the stalled aircraft was already extracted and operations at NAIA resumed after the sweep and clearance conducted by the Airport Grounds Operations and Safety Division.

Incidental­ly, the passenger of the King Air aircraft was no less than Senator Christophe­r Lawrence “Bong” Go and his team who were on their way to provide aid to residents affected by heavy rains and floods Mapanas, Catarman and Lavezares in Northern Samar.

In a statement, the senator narrated that their flight was aborted after developing a mechanical issue on one of its engines.

“My team and I were supposed to be on our way to distribute assistance to our fellow Filipinos affected by heavy rains and floods in Mapanas, Catarman and Lavezares, all in Northern Samar. I was also scheduled to inspect the Super Health Center and a newly constructe­d covered court in Lavezares, as well as the renovated public market in Catarman today,” Go said.

“Despite best efforts to secure alternativ­e flights, with much regret, we cannot push with my personal visit. The safety of everyone on board is also paramount. However, we made sure that the scheduled activities, particular­ly the distributi­on of much needed assistance to the affected families, be conducted without delay. My staff had been on the ground in Northern Samar for several days already, assisting local authoritie­s address the needs of the victims,” he added.

“I commend the MIAA personnel for the swift recovery action to minimize adverse impact on other flight operations and the plane crew for ensuring our safety,” said the senator.
