Over P500M agri, infra damages due to rains logged

The continuous pouring of heavy rains brought by the combination of the shear line phenomenon, northeast monsoon and a low-pressure area has posed a total of P544 million worth of damages to agricultural and infrastructure, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
In its latest report as of Tuesday, the NDRRMC reported a total of P171,555,996 worth of damage to infrastructure and P373,962,339.27 to agriculture.
The National Irrigation Administration, meanwhile, recorded a total cost of damage amounting to P25,610,000 while the estimated cost of damage to other assets amounting to P4,841,810 was reported in MIMAROPA.
A total of 347,382 families or 1,398,103 individuals have been affected by the heavy rains from 1,956 barangays nationwide, with a total of 37,984 families or 155,203 individuals staying in the evacuations centers while 12,841 families or 48,193 persons are staying with relatives.

About 1,136 damaged houses — 997 partially and 379 totally destroyed — amounting to P2,410,000.
The bad weather also affected a total of 17,798 fishermen and farmers from Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and the Davao region while at least 26 seaports were affected in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Davao region — six of which remained non-operational — affecting 121 Zamboanga passengers.
