The Philippine National Police disclosed on Sunday that three former policemen who allegedly have links to the abduction of a master agent of online cockfighting in Laguna surrendered to authorities.

The PNP said that the former cops — identified as Rigel Brosas, Daryl Paghangaan and Roy Navarete surrendered to the members of the PNP’s anti-scalawag after a series of negotiations.

Brosas yielded at the Rizal municipal police station at 2:45 p.m. on 19 January, followed by the surrendering of Paghangaan five hours later at the Liliw municipal police station in Laguna.

Navarete, on the other hand, voluntarily surrendered at the Calauan Municipal Police Station in Laguna last Saturday night.

Reports showed that Brosas — then a patrolman — and Paghangaan, then a staff sergeant, allegedly pretended to be agents of the National Bureau of Investigation and took Ricardo Lasco from his house in San Pablo City in Laguna on 30 August 2021.

The suspects were also accused of taking cash and other valuable personal belongings inside Lasco’s house.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo in a radio interview on Saturday said the three cops were dismissed from the service after they were implicated in Lasco’s kidnapping case.

Fajardo said they are expecting that the suspects will cooperate in the investigation after surrendering.

The authorities still considered Lasco as a “missing” personality.

The PNP’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Special Investigation Task Group “Sabungero” is also probing the cases involving the disappearance of 34 other e-sabong enthusiasts who have last seen in 2020.

Criminal charges were also filed against a least 15 personalities in connection with the missing e-sabong aficionados.
