ZAMBOANGA CITY — authorities here reported on Tuesday that police have seized at least 363 master cases of smuggled cigarettes worth P16.335 million during their three-day consecutive campaign against smuggled tobacco leave products here and in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del sur.
Police Regional office 9 director Brig. Gen. neil alinsañgan disclosed that police manning the checkpoints in the area intercepted batches of smuggled cigarettes in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del sur and another at Tigtabon Island, Zamboanga City.
alinsañgan said the police intercepted a mini truck van loaded with at least 90 master cases of smuggled cigarettes worth P4.05 million at a police checkpoint in QCP Boyugan West, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del sur on sunday.

alinsañgan said police personnel of 2nd Zamboanga City Mobile Force “seaborne” Company together with the Bureau of Customs, Intelligence and Investigation service and enforcement and security service conducted a joint anti-smuggling campaign near Tigtabon Island here on saturday.
The team was able to intercept a motorized wooden watercraft “Jungkong” color blue loaded with 158 master cases of assorted smuggled cigarettes worth P7.11 million.
among the imported brand of cigarettes seized by the police were san Marino, Fort, astro, Harbor, new Berlin and nelson.
Police also placed under investigation nine individuals who were caught transporting the undocumented smuggled cigarettes.
