The senator underlined how a mere technical glitch in airports can adversely affect the country’s economic activity and national security.
While saying there is no need to point fingers, Go said it is important for concerned authorities to step forward and take responsibility for their actions.
He reiterated that concerned agencies should always put the interests of Filipinos first and safeguard the country’s national security.
It can be recalled that on New Year’s Day, 1 January, and on Chinese Lunar New Year, 22 January, CAAP reported two separate airport operations shutdowns that inconvenienced thousands of passengers at the NAIA.
Meanwhile, In keeping with his commitment to help hasten the recovery of distressed communities nationwide, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go had his outreach team distribute assistance to fire victims in Dapa, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte last Thursday, 26 January.
Go’s staff mounted the relief activity at the New Public Market of the town where they gave away grocery packs, vitamins, masks, shirts and snacks to 112 fire-hit households.
Separately, the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed financial assistance.

The lawmaker then highlighted the importance of Republic Act 11589, otherwise known as the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act, which is expected to improve the agency’s capability in dealing with fire-related incidents.
