New agri-fishery programs for CL up

MAGALANG, Pampanga — The Department of Agricultur­e and various Agricultur­e and Fishery Council Coordinato­rs held a discussion on the new agricultur­al and fishery programs of the agency at the lTEC Building, CLIARC Upland, Sto. Niño town this week.

Led by the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division, the discussion was participat­ed by the PMED chief and current Regional Agricultur­e and Fishery Council Executive Officer Noli Sambo, Planning Officer lll at RAFC Coordinato­r Lordelyn dela Cruz, RAFC Chairperso­n Engr. Francisco Hernandez, and various AFC Coordinato­rs from the seven provinces of Central Luzon.

The discussion aims to provide AFCs knowledge of the Omnibus Guidelines on Agricultur­al and Fishery Council Engagement of the Philippine Council for Agricultur­e and Fisheries.

Sambo revealed that the various programs and projects of the DA, including the targets for the year 2021-2022.

Sambo said that the Central Luzon is first when it comes to the contributi­on of rice seedlings in the country, with 19 percent for the 2021 National Contributi­on or around 3.8 million metric tons produced.

The official also said that the agency continues to urge farmers to register at the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agricultur­e since this is the basis of the agency when distributi­ng services.

RAFC chair Hernandez cited the many assistance the branch has provided to the farmers and fisherfolk of Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, De la Cruz bared the responsibi­lities and duties of the AFC coordinato­rs that are in line with the OGAFCE.

He said that the AFC should be the voice and bridge for the management and the end users so that the proper services will be given to the latter.

RAFC Secretaria­t Amelia Ferrey, revealed that various steps for the documentar­y requiremen­ts for AFC claims from the agency.
