Steam takes down The Day Before

One of the most sought-after titles on Steam has been removed from the gaming platform because of an alleged trademark complaint.

The Day Before was initially announced in January 2021 before an official gameplay trailer was released three months later.

It is supposed to be an open-world MMO (massively multiplayer online) survival game but nothing has come out from the developers since then.

Fntastic promised to release a lengthy gameplay video in January, something that fans have been looking forward to, only to get disappointed because not only the video will not be released but the entire game launch was pushed back from 1 March to November 2023.

“Right before release, Steam blocked our game page at the request of a private individual because of the name The Day Before. As you know, our game was announced in January 2021. At the time of the announcement, The Day Before trademark was available,” Fntastic said in a statement.

“After the announcement of the game, the abovementioned individual filled out an application before us to register the game trademark The Day Before in the United States.”

What’s next? Previously, we were not aware of the existence of claims. We found out about this only on 19 January 2023 when we received a complaint from him and a request to contact him. Now we find out all the circumstances of the incident and we will definitely solve everything.”

At this point, fans are starting to doubt if the game is even real with many saying that The Day Before is a scam. Besides the dubious sudden trademark issue, fans pointed out that Fntastic was talking about making the game better instead of focusing on the supposed problem at hand.

“We previously planned to post a lengthy gameplay video later this month, but we’ll have to sort this issue first. We will post a video as soon as possible. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the launch to November 10, 2023,” Fntastic announced.
