Malaysian expo offers Halal trade doorway
Entering the lucrative halal market among Islamic countries may become easier through the 19th edition of the Malaysia International Halal Showcase which is touted as a gateway for global businesses seeking to access the fast-growing global industry.
Speaking at the MIHAS Pavilion during the recent IFEX Philippines in Manila, Malaysian Ambassador Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino noted “with Malaysia being the global leader in the halal industry and well-developed halal ecosystem, the country has a lot to offer to Philippines’ companies who are looking to expand in Malaysia as well as sourcing for high-quality halal products and services.”
Major exports of halal products from Malaysia include food and beverages, halal ingredients, cosmetics and personal health care as well as palm oil.
MIHAS 2023, which is hosted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia and organized by Malaysia’s trade promotion agency, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp. will be held over four days, from 12 to 15 September 2023 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center in Kuala Lumpur.
MATRADE is also organizing the International Sourcing Program, which is a one-on-one business meeting program between foreign buyers and Malaysian exporters, currently ongoing virtually and will also be held physically during MIHAS 2023 in Kuala Lumpur.
Apart from the showcase and INSP, MATRADE will also be organizing MIHAS Knowledge Hub, which is a program that focuses on knowledge sharing on issues related to the global halal industry.
The Knowledge Hub will consist of a series of conferences, forums and seminars involving leading keynote speakers, industry experts and thought leaders.
Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Manila, Intan Zalani highlighted that this year’s MIHAS is expected to be the largest post-pandemic as it is expected to attract over 35,000 international visitors, and 1,500 booths, targeting 40 country pavilions.
