- BY PAULINE JOYCE PASCUAL

The significance of women empowerment finds a captivating expression through the lens of the firstever, all-female national art competition in the Philippines — Sining Filipina.

BDO Unibank Inc. and SM Supermalls, in collaboration with the Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, proudly present this groundbreaking initiative as a celebration of art, creativity and the indomitable spirit of Filipina artists.

Art is for everyone. Now, it’s the moment to witness the empowering narratives woven by the talented women of Sining Filipina.

The competition provides a dynamic platform for Filipinas to unleash their artistic skills.

During the press conference, Joanne Zapanta-Andrada, vice president of Zonta Club of Makati and Environs, emphasized the theme of “women power.”

“For years, women have been portrayed as physical muses, but there’s more to them than just physical beauty,” she said. “We want to see how women see themselves.”

Aspiring artists have until 31 January to submit their original artworks, entirely conceptualized and executed by themselves. The competition not only promises recognition but also offers a substantial cash prize of up to P250,000 for the grand winner.

Serving as a proof to the unwavering support, Sining Filipina strives to amplify the voices and visions of women in the dynamic realm of art. Let the canvases echo the strength, resilience and creativity of Filipina artists, forging a path for future generations to tread upon.
