SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Newly-installed Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chairperson and administrator Eduardo Jose Aliño has vowed that the agency will have a “friendlier atmosphere” towards investors and locators.

This, as the SBMA welcomed its new chief who aims to have better relationships with the companies operating inside the Freeport, providing them the support needed for their businesses to thrive.

“The SBMA will provide some leeway for companies who are having a hard time to develop. We want them to grow without having to restrict their capacity to thrive,” Aliño said.

The new chairman was talking about the recent cancellations of certificates of registration and tax exemption made during the previous administration, adding that the agency should go forward and not hinder the businesses who made Subic Bay Freeport their second home.

He also vowed to take good care of the agency and its people as the chairman stated that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has given him the mandate to take care of the SBMA and its people.

“The President also told me to be able to improve the SBMA as well as bring Subic Bay Freeport Zone to the next level, which means go forward. With the help of the Board of Directors, who are all very professional, I believe that we can achieve that goal hand-in-hand,” Aliño said.

Aliño replaced former Pandan Mayor Jonathan D. Tan as the chairman and administrator of the government-owned and -controlled corporation this month, as Tan was assigned as the Senior Undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
