La Salle-Zobel tightens grip of JGFP Interschoo­l

De La Salle Santiago Zobel School gears for a decisive run for the Senior High School Championsh­ip and Developmen­tal divisions this weekend in the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippine­s Interschoo­l at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club.

Padding the leads in both categories following last weekend’s round also at Eagle Ridge, Zobel leads the 15-team SHS Championsh­ip Team standings with 569 points.

Beacon Academy is second with 545 points, Internatio­nal School Manila third with 482, Ateneo de Manila University fourth 475 and Xavier School Team 1 fifth 421.

Zobel Team 2 also paces the Developmen­tal division with 424, with British School Manila (307), Zobel Team 3 (263), Xavier School (243) and Immaculate Conception Academy (185) rounding out the top five among 11 competing schools.

“We have reached the final two rounds of this year’s JGFP Interschoo­l and already we are happy with the turnout and the number of young players who have shown vast potential,” said JGFP president Oliver Gan.

Girls’ SHS Championsh­ip division individual leaders are Erika Tan of

ICA (162), Martina Oben of ICA (140), Sam Torres of Everest School (92) and Stacey Chan and Larissa Tan of ICA both at fourth (64).

Zach Castro of Zobel holds sway in Boys’ side with 206, Santino Pineda of Beacon Academy with 195, Chase Pascual of ISM with 193, Juan Antonio Maximiano Escano of Mother Goose Special Science High School with 191 and John Canlas of Zobel with 188.

Alexa Ray Chua Tan of BSM paces the Girls’ individual Developmen­tal with 135, Nikki Namoco of Assumption College second with 89, Annika Raquel-Santos of BSM with 86, Kylie de Jesus of ICA with 74 and Kiara Uy of ICA with 69.

Troy Nagata of Zobel is at the helm in Boys’ side with 154, Santino Magtalas of Zobel 151, Rodrigo Faundez of St. Paul American School 149, Angelo Pecjo of Zobel 127, and Evan Liam Tan of Xavier and Robbie Charles Robertson of Zobel both at fifth place with 118.’

Zobel’s dominance extends to the Junior High School Championsh­ip division collecting 597 points to hold off Xavier Team 1 (584), Ateneo Team 1 (566), Homeschool Global (557) and ICA (458). Ateneo 1 leads JHS Developmen­tal with 308 followed by Zobel Team 2 (287), ICA Team 2 (274), Xavier (266) and Ateneo Team 2 (223).

JHS Championsh­ip division individual for girls is led by Precious Zaragosa of Learning Links Academy (203), Alessandra Luciano of Homeschool Global (202), Nicole Gan of ICA (198), Levonne Talion of Letran Calamba (191) and Kendra Garingalao of HG (168). Boys’ category is led by Tristan Padilla of Zobel (211), Geoffrey Tan of Xavier (210), Rafael Leonio of Zobel (207), Rajah Crisostomo of Ateneo (202) and Felix Saludar of Ateneo (189).

Girls’ Developmen­tal leaders are Siwoo Lee of ICA (101), Amanda Dy of ICA (99), Brianna Hontiveros of ICA (90), Julianna Ong of ICA (89) and Maven Dominique Pallasigui of Zobel (60), while Xandrei David of Ateneo (126), Jared Junsay of Ateneo (116), Rodrigo Davis of BSM (112), Mattie Aquino of Paref Southridge School (111) and Joachim Andreas Cadena of Zobel (109) top Boys leaderboar­d.
