6th UST Rector’s Cup fires off Monday

Some 280 players will see action in the Rector’s Cup: Thomasian Alumni Golf Tournament­s slated 12 February at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, Cavite.

It is the sixth staging of the tournament organized by the University of Santo Tomas through the Office of Alumni Relations.

There will be team competitio­ns as well as individual events for men, ladies and guests.

“For this year, Rector’s Cup sees its largest player turnout throughout its entire run since 2016. The event is expecting more than 280 golfers on tournament day with 11 teams on its roster divided into three divisions,” said the UST statement.

The teams will be fighting over the coveted perpetual trophy designed by the renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina.

“The growing golfer community continues its commitment to the advocacy of supporting Thomasian student-athletes who compete in the UAAP, and other national and internatio­nal sports events,” added the statement.

Major sponsors of the event are Wilcon Depot and DivinaLaw.

Hole-in-one sponsors are Jetour Auto Philippine­s and GetGo Golf Carts with a brand-new car and golf cart up for grabs.

Participan­ts will have a chance to bring home prizes such as wellness packages, hotel accommodat­ions, travel packages, golf items, state of the art appliances, gift certificat­es and many more.

More sponsors joining the cause include Argos Watches, Boysen, Cabean Café, Ibarra Manila, Makati Medical Center Care Access Araneta City, Skynet Travel Corporatio­n and Lydia’s Lechon.
