Mark Bautista admitted that he lost projects after coming out as bisexual in his 2017 memoir, Beyond the Mark.

The revelation occurred during a sit-down interview with Karen Davila on 8 February, where the singer confessed that he had no regrets about coming out.

“Nung lumabas, ang dami palang gantong reactions. Sabi ko, dapat ba hindi ko na tinuloy and all that? Pero ngayon masasabi ko it’s the best decision na nagawa ko. Sobrang iba ang pakiramdam. No regrets (When the book came out, there were so many reactions. I said to myself, maybe I shouldn’t have continued and all that. But now, I can say it’s the best decision I have ever made. It feels so different),” Bautista said, adding that he was ready if the industry doesn’t accept him anymore.

“Ready ako whatever happens, I’m just so thankful and blessed that after seven years, I still get to do what I love to do,” he added.

The 40-year-old singer said he is still open to falling in love with a girl and having a family.

However, he also admitted that he had not fallen in love with a woman yet.

“Open-ended ‘yung libro eh kasi open pa rin ako to fall in love with a girl kasi gusto ko talaga magka-family, gusto ko magkaanak, and all that. I’m still open to it, kung may babae na tatanggapin ako (The book is open-ended because I’m still open to falling in love with a girl because I really want to have a family, to have children and all that. I’m still open to it, if there’s a girl who will accept me),” he said.

The singer added: “I think I’m still open, kung mafo-fall ako o mai-in love sa isang babae, wala akong problema (If I fall in love with a woman, it’s not a problem for me).”

After coming out as bisexual in his memoir, the singer had only felt gratitude to his family.

“Never sila nagtanong, never sila nag-question, never sila nag-judge. Madali sa kanilang tanggapin

(They never asked, they never questioned, they never judged. It was easy for them to accept),” he said, adding that his parents have always been supportive of him.

Bautista rose to mainstream popularity when he became a grand finalist on the reality show Star for a Night, where he placed third behind Sarah Geronimo.

The matinee singer, who has released multiple albums in 2000s and early 2010s, is a recipient of highly coveted awards, including a MYX Music Award in 2006 and an Awit Award in 2008.
