‘Lola Gaming’ remains young at heart

Carmen “Lola Gaming” Taqueban is proving that video gaming is also for those who are young at heart.

At 74 years old, Lola Gaming is the oldest Mobile Legends: Bang Bang streamer in the Philippines with more than 150,000 followers on Facebook.

It all started during the pandemic when she noticed her grandkids staring at their mobile phones most of the time.

“I started during the pandemic when I saw the youth and my grandkids always focused on playing Mobile Legends. I told them you’re always sitting there, I do not see you helping with house chores anymore,” she remembered.

“So I tried playing and they said they would put me on live. When I play, I don’t even know what to press.”

“They told me I have many views and it made me happy because it was my first time to play. Now I know why the youth are hooked because when I tried playing it was so fun.”

Lola Gaming was an instant hit. Since then, the senior citizen gamer would spend hours on her mobile phone playing and streaming the popular mobile MOBA.

In fact, Lola Gaming got so hooked on playing the game that there was a time she played for eight hours a day before turning it down a notch to look after herself.

“It is so fun even for the elderly. That is what is in it for me. I always tell other seniors to also play Mobile Legends because sometimes I play for eight hours,” Lola Gaming said.

“I do not stress myself so I am healthy. I stroll and I always think of the Lord and ask him to keep me healthy.”

Knowing that young eyes and sometimes even bashers are glued to her stream, Lola Gaming never forgets to tell her viewers to prioritize education over video games.
