Junior Altas keep rolling

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta tamed Arellano University, 100-79, to roll to their fifth straight victory in the National Collegiate Athletic Associatio­n Season 99 juniors basketball tournament yesterday at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

Amiel Amido led the charge while Lebron Daep, JD Pagulayan and Mark Gojo Cruz provided support, underscori­ng the Junior Altas’ balanced offensive production that kept their winning streak alive.

Amido fired 21 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and a steal while Daep churned in a double-double performanc­e of 11 points and 10 rebounds with two assists, two steals and three blocks.

Pagulayan was also impressive with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Cruz finished with 15 points, nine assists, three rebounds, three steals and a block for Perpetual, which also drew 13 points from Aries Borja and 12 points from Icee Callangan.

With the win, the Junior Altas have now kept the solo lead after erstwhile undefeated Malayan School fell prey to Letran College, 69-86.

Also emerging victorious was San Beda University, which outsmarted La Salle Green Hills, 64-62, while Lyceum of the Philippine­s suffered a 63-77 loss to Emilio Aguinaldo College to remain winless in five matches.

The Las Piñas-based dribblers of team manager Anton Tamayo, who are bankrolled by Siemens, F2 Logistics and Yurich Builders, will shoot for their sixth straight win when they face Malayanwhi­le Letran battles EAC, San Sebastian collides with Arellano, San Beda tackles Lyceum and Jose Rizal University tangles with LSGH on Sunday.
