RESONANCE OF TRIUMPH

-

In commemoration of National Women’s Month, Filipina piano virtuoso Cecile Licad graces the stage alongside the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert on 19 March, 7 p.m., at the Manila Metropolitan Theater.

Poised to celebrate Licad’s artistic brilliance and her profound contributions to the world of classical music, the event brings together a distinguished audience to witness the renowned artist’s rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, Op. 23.

Recognized as one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous works, Concerto No. 1 is an empowering masterpiece, owing to its powerful and virtuosic piano writing, dramatic intensity and heart-swooning melodies. Its triumphant finale, characterized by an exhilarating pace, creates a powerful and uplifting atmosphere, inspiring a sense of strength and resilience — making it a fitting homage to women’s empowerment.

Under the guidance of the esteemed Maestro Grzegorz Nowak, music director and principal conductor of PPO, the concert promises to be a harmonious blend of musical mastery.

Designed for an intimate and impactful experience, this private gathering assembles dignitaries from the Senate, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, socio-civic stalwarts, educators from state colleges and universities, young artists and music students from various universities.

By uniting individuals from diverse sectors — encompassing government, diplomacy, business, education and the arts — the concert evolves even further as a platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue, as well as the cultivation of a shared appreciation for cultural and artistic heritage.

Promising an extraordinary convergence of artistic excellence, this special musical celebration featuring Cecile Licad, is proudly presented by Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Culture and the Arts, in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts with its chairman Ino Manalo, the Cultural Center of the Philippines headed by chairman Jaime Laya, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Society Inc. led by its late president Zenaida Tantoco.
