Creamline guns for solo lead

-

Games today: (Philsports Arena) 2 p.m. — Petro Gazz vs Capital1 4 p.m. — Chery Tiggo vs Nxled 6 p.m. — Cignal vs Creamline

Action intensifies as Creamline shoots for solo lead when it battles dangerous Cignal in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference today at Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Expect a fierce battle at 6 p.m., as the Cool Smashers seek a win that will cement their spot on top of the 12-team standing entering the Holy Week break.

Prior to that, Petro Gazz will seek to improve its standing when it clashes with struggling Capital1 at 2 p.m. while Chery Tiggo collides with Nxled at 4 p.m.

Together with Choco Mucho and PLDT, Creamline is one of the hottest teams in the league right now.

They won five of their first six matches, including an emphatic sweep of Capital1 last Thursday.

But Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses said they have to be careful because other teams are also looking to knock the crown off their heads.

“One game at a time, that is our target for now,” Meneses said after following their easy win over Solar Spikers.

Tots Carlos, who dropped 14 points in their 25-18, 25-14, 25-15 win over the Solar Spikers, is expected to lead the Cool Smashers with the support of Jema Galanza, Alyssa Valdez, Michele Gumabao, Bernadette Pons and Pangs Panaga.

On the other hand, Vanie Gandler is tipped to show up for the HD Spikers along with Ces Molina, Riri Meneses, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Roselyn Doria and Chin Basas.

Gandler, in fact, was impressive as she dropped 16 points built on 14 hits and an ace in their 25-7, 25-16, 25-16 win over Strong Group Athletics last Tuesday.
