Toni Gonzaga has no qualms working with former suitors Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby on ABS-CBN’s upcoming show “Written In Our Stars,” noting how she has remained friends with both.

“Naging maganda naman ’yung naging relationship namin,” she shared at a press conference.

Last year, Piolo admitted in interviews how he once tried to win Toni’s heart. Of course, it is no secret how Sam also pursued Toni some years ago.

Despite both romances being nipped

in the bud, newlywed Toni has no regrets, sharing, “Lahat ng experiences mo in the past ay magagamit mo as you grow older and as you mature...”

Toni feels fortunate to be working with two of the industry’s most goodlooking men, pointing out in jest “dahil gwapo sila (ay) hindi na kailangan mag-effort kiligin.”

The teleserye marks the reunion of Toni and Sam who were paired prior on several TV shows and film projects, including the romantic-comedy films “You Are The One” (2006), “You Got Me” (2007), “My Big Love” (2008), “Ang Tanging Pamilya” (2009), and the drama series “Maging Sino Ka Man” (2007).

“First original love team ko kasi si Sam. Siya talaga naging unang partner ko sa rom-com films,” Toni said.

The teleserye is Toni and Piolo’s second pairing following their successful tandem in 2014 via the blockbuster film “Starting Over Again.”

“Malalim ’yung pinagsamahan namin ni PJ du’n sa movie kaya mas madali na magtrabaho ngayon,” she said.

Good values

Although she has not been seen on TV dramas, Toni insists it is not because she has been picky with roles. Rather, she was waiting for a project that imparts good values to viewers, particularly the young “kasi nagkakaroon ang isang program ng epekto sa manonood eh.”

She describes “Written In Our Stars” as exactly that. “The story is something na ang ganda ng kinalawak and pinuntahan and alam kong may matutunan ’yung viewers,” she

said.

Toni is delighted that the show is not written like other teleseryes. “Meron kasi akong notion na kapag teleserye ay heavy drama. Pero nu’ng nilatag ’to sa akin parang ang ganda panuorin sa TV,” she said.

Happy wife

Toni said her husband, director Paul Soriano, has no problem with her being busy only weeks after their marriage. “He understands my line of work.

Alam niya ’yung sistema sa industry,” she explained.

Toni and Paul were married in Taytay, Rizal after 8 years of being in a relationship. Paul proposed to Toni on her birthday in January and they confirmed their engagement last Feb. 8. Their honeymoon, a gift from Kris Aquino was at Amanpulo, Pamalican Island in Palawan.

As for baby plans, she said, “I want to put my whole heart sa show (‘Written In Our Stars’) and we believe in God’s time naman darating at darating

’yun...”

She added, “I am committed to my partner but I’m also committed sa trabaho ko. So I wanna fulfill my commitment with the soap and with God’s praise matapos ko siya.”

Dream cast

“Written In Our Stars” writer Keiko Aquino describes the first team-up of Toni, Piolo and Sam as well as Jolina Magdangal as a dream come true. “Katulad nga ng story ng soap, parang destiny talaga. Kasi ang kwento ay tungkol sa kapalaran. Na nakasalalay sa mga bituin ang kapalaran natin,” she said. “Written In Our Stars” starts taping this month.
